0018. giving thanks

Taking the time to reflect is one of the best habits I've acquired in my old(er) age. It started after a work project snuck up on me and consumed a month in an unimaginable way. Once it was over I felt like I hadn't done anything besides that, but upon reflection I realized I was pretty wrong. When I don't take the time to review + reflect I miss the little things that make up life and I don't ever want that to be the case.

This year has been more wonderful than I could have ever imagined. I didn't travel the world like I'd envisioned when I first started dreaming up my sabbatical year, but I did have once in a lifetime experiences, traveled with family, and got to be with my dad when he most needed me. I'm so grateful for everything + everyone, specifically:

+ My family and getting to spend quality time with them.

+ My best monkey friend and celebrating six years together(!).

+ Our friends, who make me laugh so much and would always rather be outside than anywhere else.

+ Getting to be with my sweet little Cookie monster during her last moments. And the other old and new pups in my life.

+ My homes. Don't actually have one, but we have people we love willing and happy to let us overstay our welcome.

+ Health and my body (legs, eyes, hands, etc) which allow me to do all the things I love.

+ Nature and a collection of magical encounters.

+ Our planet and all the beautiful places I was able to visit.

+ This space and having the time to finally bring it to fruition.

+ You. If you are reading, from the bottom of my heart - thank you!

What are you thankful for? Have a wonderful holiday/weekend!

  1. What a wonderful list, and practice.

I too am grateful for the beauty of nature all around me, grateful that I am able to go out and walk in it, grateful that it's right out my windows.

I'm grateful for my husband and children and dogs, they are my whole world

Grateful for my work and how happy and fulfilling it is, grateful to be of service.

Grateful for my cozy home, enough food, warmth

Grateful for every moment I spent in a tent, a camper, a cabin, on a trail, crossing a steam, tromping in mud or snow.

Grateful for a new year and season beginning, and change.
